Richardson Brognard Okie (1875–1945) was an architectural artist and master builder known for his dedication to craftsmanship and perfection. His work was praised for embodying the American way of life—high in quality yet modest and unassuming.

Born in Camden, New Jersey, Okie earned a degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1897 and later moved to Philadelphia. His deep appreciation for Pennsylvania’s historic farmhouses led him to explore the countryside, meticulously studying and measuring early Dutch structures to master their design.

This expertise earned him prestigious clients, including the Pew and DuPont families, Supreme Court Justice Owen J. Roberts, and U.S. Attorney General Philander C. Knox. He was also commissioned to restore historic landmarks such as Betsy Ross’ house and William Penn’s Pennsbury Manor.
